州立大学宣布国际电影系列
The Center for International Programs at Valdosta State
University is sponsoring the International Film Series throughout
fall semester at 7 p.m. in the University Center Theater. Admission
to all movies is free and open to the public.

A speaker will introduce each film and lead a brief discussion
afterward.
The film series is shown in an effort to foster international and
cross-cultural awareness in the Valdosta community. Movies are
chosen on the basis of international appeal and critical acclaim.
The following movies will be shown:

?山中的囚徒？ Aug. 26, is based upon a short
story by Leo Tolstoy. Two Russian soldiers are ambushed by Muslim
rebels in the forbidding Caucasus and taken prisoner. Although
complete understanding never fully emerges, their bittersweet
ordeal reveals the human soul of two vastly different cultures.

?Indochine,? Sept. 10, is set during the French occupation of
Southeast Asia in the 1930s. Catherine Deneuve plays a plantation
owner who searches for her adopted Vietnamese daughter, Camille,
after the young woman falls in love and becomes a Communist

This?), Oct. 5, stars Carmen Maura as a housewife and cleaning
woman hooked on No-Doz who ends up selling one of her sons to a
dentist and killing her husband with a ham bone. Luis Bejarano is
the speaker.

?Walkabout,? Nov. 4, is the story of two young children who are
stranded in the Australian outback and forced to cope on their own.
