VALDOSTA - 美高梅博彩 and Moody Air Force Base
will host "The Yellow Dress" from 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in
the Bailey Science Center.
Written by Deborah Lake Fortson and originally produced by Sydney
Hayes Patton, the performance confronts the issues of dating and
domestic violence by telling the story of Deana Brisbois - a story
she is no longer alive to tell.
Mrs. Frances Elmore, the sexual assault response coordinator from
Moody AFB, and Leah McMillan, a vs上 counselor who specializes in
assault issues, are presenting the play for free to all members of
the vs上 and local communities. Contact Elmore at 560-5085 or

This event is one of many the vs上 咨询中心 will host in
remembrance of 家庭暴力关注月. Also sponsored by
Women's and Gender Studies at vs上 and various community
organizations, other events include:
Wednesday Oct. 1 - The Purple Ribbon Campaign
The display of purple ribbons, which serve as a unifying symbol of
courage, demonstrates a community stand against domestic violence
in homes, neighborhoods, schools and workplaces and a dedication to
ending it.
Monday - Friday, Oct. 6-10 - The Clothesline Project
The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to
violence against women and children. Decorated t-shirts are
displayed along clotheslines, representing individual experiences
with domestic violence.
Thursday, Oct. 16 - 社区 Candlelight Vigil at 7 p.m. in
Remerton
Monday - Friday, Oct. 20-23 - The Handprint Project
The Handprint Project gives men a chance to join the dialogue about
violence’s against women. By placing their handprints on a display
board, they can make a pledge to not commit or condone it.
Tuesday, Oct. 28 - Love Your Body Day
Women are encouraged to promote positive, healthy images of women
and girls, protest harmful and offensive advertisements and raise

Wednesday, Nov. 12 - Film viewing of The Greatest Silence: Rape in
the Congo at 6 p.m. in the University Center Theater.
