VALDOSTA — Laura Anne Northup of Mulberry, Florida, is the recipient of the Fall 2022 President’s Award for Academic Excellence for the 人文社会科学学院 at 美高梅博彩.
The President’s Award for Academic Excellence is presented to a high-performing graduating student in each of vs上’s six colleges — Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business 政府, 护理与健康科学学院, 艺术学院, 詹姆斯L.和多萝西H.杜瓦教育与人类服务学院, 人文社会科学学院, and 科学与数学学院.
Northup will be recognized during vs上’s 234th Commencement at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, on the Front Lawn. 她将以最优等的成绩毕业，获得文学、语言和文学专业的英语文学学士学位； a Minor in Women’s and Gender Studies; 并获得学院荣誉证书。

Her work on “The Consequences of Education: Liminality and Othering in the Life of Zitkala-Sa” was published in vs上’s Omnino. 它还在2022年vs上本科生研究研讨会上获得了最佳论文奖。

Northup’s commitment to academic, research, service, and leadership excellence resulted in her being named an Honors Scholar and a Jennett Scholar, as well as earning repeated Dean’s List honors and the Department of English’s Martha Wiseman McKey Award.

“I plan on continuing my work and dedicating my life to higher education as a professor, with the hopes of becoming a department head, dean, or even provost far down the line,” she said. “I want to make a difference in the lives of students, like the faculty at vs上 have done for me.”
