VALDOSTA — Ashley Renee Mulkey of Braselton, Georgia, is the recipient of the Fall 2025 President’s Award for Academic Excellence for the 詹姆斯L.和多萝西H.杜瓦教育与人类服务学院 at 美高梅博彩.
The President’s Award for Academic Excellence is presented to a high-performing graduating student in each of vs上’s six colleges — Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business 政府, 护理与健康科学学院, 艺术学院, 詹姆斯L.和多萝西H.杜瓦教育与人类服务学院, 科学与数学学院, and 人文社会科学学院.
Mulkey will be recognized during vs上’s 240th Commencement at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, on the Main Campus Front Lawn. 她将以优异的成绩毕业，获得办公室管理与技术理学学士学位。
“I am truly humbled by this recognition,” she said. “我的 journey at vs上 was both challenging and deeply rewarding. 平衡好母亲、另一半、雇员和学生的多重角色并非易事。 我度过了无数个学习的漫漫长夜，有时在送儿子准备上学和上班之前根本没有睡觉。 对大多数人来说，做到这一切似乎是不可能的，老实说，有时我想知道我该如何度过难关。

“I share my story not only as a celebration of personal accomplishment but as a call for change. Many mothers and nontraditional students like me face similar barriers, and I hope my journey inspires lawmakers to revisit policies like the HOPE Scholarship so that individuals who take longer routes to education aren’t left behind. 获得这个奖项是多年努力工作、牺牲和决心的结晶。 Most importantly, it’s a reminder that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.”
As a student at vs上, Mulkey joined Honor Society in 2022 and was named an eight-time Dean’s List honoree, with a ninth recognition expected after graduation. 她是迪卡尔布县学区Chamblee中学的全职注册员。

Mulkey’s commitment to academic, leadership, and service excellence resulted in her earning the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Workforce Development Outstanding Bachelor of Science in Office 政府 and Technology Student Award.
After graduation Mulkey plans to continue her education, pursuing a master’s degree then a doctorate with the University of Georgia’s Mary Francs Early College of Education’s Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology. She dreams of someday pursuing a second career path and having an opportunity to positively impact people’s lives.
“I’ve proudly served the DeKalb County School District for 20 years, and I plan to retire once my son graduates high school,” she said. “By that time — within the next four to six years — I hope to have completed my graduate studies and begin my second career in education, either at a private school, within a college or university setting, or running my own business.
“我的 passion for education extends beyond the classroom. Through my experience both serving and running an educational foundation, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of access, guidance, and support in transforming lives. Those experiences have inspired me to dream even bigger and to one day build a nonprofit organization from the ground up that supports families by providing educational and medical resources.”
